AOL to produce shows in collaboration with CBS
Time Warner’s internet division AOL has said that they are collaborating with CBS to co-produce Saturday morning kid’s shows.
The deal would see the two companies incorporate content from two of television’s biggest rivals, internet and videogames.
AOL’s kids division, KOL would as a result produce a portion of CBS’s Saturday programming schedule through a privately held management company DIC Entertainment.
This programming block on the CBS network would be called KOL’s Saturday Morning Secret Slumber Party on CBS and would telecast from September.
Some of the new shows planned for this telecast include a competition show “Dance Revolution” based on Konami’s popular Dance Dance Revolution video game.
Andy Heyward, chairman & CEO of DIC Entertainment said in a statement on this new development: “Kids today continue to expand their entertainment options beyond television … Our new partnership with KOL will provide us with a tremendous opportunity to reach kids through the launch of the new Saturday morning programming block on CBS as well as through KOL’s growing online destination.â€
