Intel opens up a new plant in Leixlip Ireland
Microprocessor market giants Intel have launched a new high-volume semiconductor plant in Leixlip, Ireland.
This plant has seen investments of around USD 2 Billion by the company and it would be making processors based on 65nm technology using 300mm wafers.
Intel has named this new center Fab 23-2 and it becomes the latest in the series of units making new generation chips for the company. Intel already has similar labs located in Arizona and Oregon.
Intel’s president and CEO Paul Otellini spoke on this new development: “The combination of 65nm technology and Intel’s new Core micro architecture changes the game in terms of the benefits we can provide our customers.â€
