Nissan might manufacture a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder small car at Maruti Plant
Japanese automaker Nissan is said to be considering making a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder small car through its recently announced collaboration with Suzuki at Maruti’s plant located in India.
This Nissan can be out in the market as soon as in the early months of 2008. This car would be sold in both the domestic and the international markets of the company.
Nissan could be making one-lakh units of this car per year in the initial stages and plans to double the capacities in the following years.
Maruti has yet to comment on these new developments though Nissan is said to have already started talking with various component manufacturers in the region to supply parts for their car.
Nissan is primarily known for their mid sized sedans in the market. It would be interesting to see them developing a small car for the developing markets of the world.
