Warner Bros. to sell movies through Guba.com
US based movie studio Warner Bros. has confirmed that they would soon start selling movies through another online service Guba.com. This is their second such deal to sell movies online through services, which once threatened their business by allowing online piracy to share files on the net.
Warner Bros. recently struck a similar deal with BitTorrent Inc. to sell movies using its technology. Incidentally, Torrents are the most popular ways of sharing digital media on the net and is primarily used for pirated content.
The movie companies in the US are now realizing the true potential of the internet and are increasingly targeting web users with legal avenues of purchasing content on the net. They are trying to get more consumers to get the movies and TV shows legally from the internet.
Warner would sell new release DVD films on Guba.com for $19.99. These can then be downloaded on the user’s computer. Movies can also be rented for a cheaper price and older movies would come at a discounted price.
