Wall Street Journal claims AOL might offer ISP services for free
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Time Warner’s AOL unit is considering offering its services for free to customers who already have a high-speed Internet connection.
Such a step would help the company keep their customer base, which is rapidly moving on to competing high-speed internet service providers.
As per this plan, AOL might stop charging users with high-speed Internet access or a dial-up service from another provider. Though, users would AOL’s dialup packages would still be required to pay the monthly fees.
As many as a third of all AOL subscribers now have high speed broadband connectivity and AOL now hopes that more would move onto their high speed packages after this new scheme.
