Palm facing problems with Treo models in Europe

Palm has revealed that they are no longer shipping their latest Treo 650 smart phone to the European markets, as it does not comply with the new European Union regulations. The latest regulations limit the acceptable amount of hazardous substances in electronics goods.

The move has also affected Apple Computers as they have also withdrawn several of their computing products from the European markets.

Palm had in fact decided around nine months ago that it would not update the product to meet the regulations. The company said on this decision: “We felt like the product was long in its lifecycle and to make that change at this point did not make sense.”

They now plan to ship a new smart phone to Europe later this year which would fulfill all the requirements set by the European Union.
