eBay disallow their sellers to use Google Checkout payment service

Google recently launched their much-awaited online payment service named Google Checkout. It makes it easier for people to pay using their credit cards without actually putting in their card details on the web sites for extra security.

Google manages the payments and also maintains a record for later viewing. This service was being seen as a potential rival for eBay’s PayPal service. Google had denied that they don’t want to compete with PayPal but the latest news in shows that eBay is looking at Google Checkout as a threat to their PayPal service.

eBay has now updated their policies, which effectively bans Google Checkout payment mode for their sellers and buyers. The company said in its Accepted Payments Policy that they want to ensure that the marketplace offers buyers an array of safe, appropriate, and convenient payment choices for the marketplace and Checkout being rather new does not make the cut.

This would come as a disappointment for a lot of Google Adwords users as they get benefits from Google for using their Checkout services for accepting payments from their customers.
