Sun Microsystems launches more Opteron based server products
Sun Microsystems Inc. has announced the availability of their latest range of server products. These new servers are powered by AMD’s Opteron range of processors.
Market analysts believe that these new products would help the company’s recovery process to get back to profitability as they try to compete against rivals including IBM, Dell and Hewlett Packard.
The company is launching Sun Fire X4600, Sun Fire X4500 servers and Sun Blade 8000 modular system and targeting these at the midrange servers market.
These new product launches are part of their efforts to revamp their product range to gain more customers in this competitive market. Sun is also expanding their services to include subscription-based model for selling its hardware, computer services and software.
