NASA cheerful as Discovery Space Shuttle mission a success
US based space agency NASA has said that they are back on track with their space program as they have just concluded a very successful Discovery Space Shuttle mission.
The Discovery landed back on earth successfully in Florida on Monday. This ended a very productive 13-day mission, which included some spacewalks and critical repairs to the international space station.
NASA now hopes that they can now carry out more regular missions to space as they have managed to fix most of the problems originating from the Columbia Shuttle disaster.
NASA administrator Michael Griffin spoke after the return of the Shuttle: “It was an enormously successful flight. We’re back on track.”
He further added: “Obviously, this is as good a mission as we’ve ever flown but we’re not going to get overconfident.â€
Before the Discovery mission, NASA had said that they might be forced to pull the plug on the shuttle program if it were marred by any further accidents. Discovery has given NASA hope. And they are very happy about it!
