Ford launches Fiesta Diesel EXi for less than Rs. 7 Lakh

Ford India has launched a cheaper diesel version of their popular Fiesta model. This model is named Ford Fiesta Diesel EXi and it has been priced at an exciting Rs 6.85 lakhs.

Scott McCormack, vice-president (Marketing, Sales and Service), Ford India was at the launch ceremony and he said on this launch: “Enthused by the raving success of Ford Fiesta across the country, and responding to the customer feedback, we have introduced the Fiesta Diesel EXi, which offers buyers a sensational package of outstanding driving dynamics, enhanced interior comfort, refinement and class leading fuel efficiency.”

Fiesta has been a pretty successful model for the company in the Indian market as it has taken away the market share from competing models like the Hyundai Accent. The company itself has registered an overall growth of 91 per cent during January-June 2006 against the same period last year.

The company is also due to launch compressed natural gas (CNG)-based versions of its cars in India by the end of this year. That should further boost their sales at least in the Delhi NCR region where CNG is available easily.

McCormack said on this decision: “We have plans to launch CNG-based models in India, and Ford Ikon will be the first to be launched in this version.”
