Most blogs continue to remain personal storytellers
Internet has become the most popular way for people to express themselves. Blogs empower them to say things they want to communicate to the rest of the world.
We also have thousands of popular blogs, which are mostly about news, technology and politics. However, research has found that if we remove the splogs (spam blogs); most active blogs on the internet continues to remain personal and about storytelling.
A study conducted by Pew Internet and American Life Project claims that “My life and experiences” was cited as the primary focus by 37 percent of U.S. Bloggers. Politics and government came at a distant second position with 11% Bloggers focused on it.
Amanda Lenhart, Pew’s senior research specialist spoke on their research: “They are about people’s personal experiences. They don’t tend to be about one topic. It’s not just about politics. It’s about politics, your kids and going for a walk. It’s about what crosses people’s minds and what inspires them.”
They also found out that a majority of Bloggers continue to blog as a hobby. We have thousands of professional Bloggers who blog as a profession but majority of Bloggers online are still part timers. Another interesting aspect found in this study was that half the Bloggers say they do it mostly for themselves, not for an audience.
