Takes Apple heads on in Online Music Selling

They went late on GUI based Operating Systems. They went late on the Internet. They managed to conquer both these fields. And then they went late on the Search Engine revolution. They even got late entering into Blogging… And they have got great competition on their hands. But they are working on it…

The latest in the series is the online music stores. Microsoft gets into this particular market with the launch of Microsoft Windows Media Player 10. And the competition here is Apple’s iTunes. Very successful and damn popular. It is backed by the Walkman of portable music players: iPod. The largest selling player in the market is the primary reason why Apple iTunes is so popular because apple forbids music bought from other online stores to play on iPod. Microsoft has the same problems considering they can’t support music playing on iPod. They do support more than 70 other portable players in the market which might help them get a good chunk of the market.

The online music war begins now with Microsoft entering the field. They have the money and perhaps the technology to do something that no other player in the market could do… that is compete with Apple. Steve Jobs have some things to worry about now that Mr. Bill Gates has his eyes on this industry…
