Apple reports improved sales of Mac while PC sales slows down
Apple continues to benefit from the so-called iPod Halo effect as sales of Mac are continuing to improve in the market.
In comparison, PC market growth slowed during the second quarter compared to the first three months of the year. This was mostly credited to the recently concluded Fifa World Cup, which got the consumers to stick to their television sets for around a month.
Market research company IDC said in its report that global PC shipment growth softened to 9.7 percent year-on-year in the second quarter. This is disappointing when compared to a blistering 12.9 percent pace during the first quarter.
IDC said: “While overall growth remained strong, there were some unexpected twists in regional performance. Inventory from the first quarter and distractions from the World Cup significantly cut into European growth.â€
In comparison, Mac makers Apple Computers reported that their shipments of various Macs grew by roughly 16 percent.
