Market analysts hopeful about Microsoft Zune product

Microsoft hit a jackpot with their Xbox range of Videogaming consoles though they failed to impress the market with their Origami technology based products.

Now, the software giant is planning to develop and launch a competitor for the Apple iPod and Apple iTunes. This project is codenamed Zune.

Market analysts believe that the entry of Microsoft in this segment has the potential to reshape the global portable digital entertainment market, as the company would try hard to outdo Apple as the dominating player in this segment.

Rob Enderle of Enderle Group spoke on this new development: “It is a flanking move. Microsoft is trying to encompass Apple and turn them into a bit player. The strategy is brilliant, but the question is can they execute. This is the only run at Apple that has a chance.”

He further said: “Microsoft could have a gaming platform that does music on the road map and Apple is nowhere near having games on the iPod.”
