TH-103PZ600U: Panasonic to launch 103″ plasma TV for around USD 70,000

Panasonic has confirmed that they would be launching their world’s largest plasma TV (103”) by Christmas. This monster would come at a high price of USD 70,000.

It would carry a three-year in-home limited warranty, which the company claims is “unprecedented” in the industry.

Panasonic’s display group vice president Andrew Nelkin added: “Panasonic didn’t create the world’s largest plasma TV as a technology demo for a trade show. We created it because, as worldwide sales of Plasma TVs continue on a meteoric rise, the market is seeking bigger displays on which people can experience the High Definition lifestyle.”

The company is also ensuring that this television set named TH-103PZ600U runs at full HD resolution (1080p or 1920 x1080 progressive) and offer an impressive 4000:1 contrast ratio and 4096 equivalent steps of gradation. The effective display area of this unit is more than 89.3″ wide by over 50.2″ high.

Panasonic would also be recommending the customers to go in for a $5300 extension, which would include a Blu-Ray player, a receiver and a $3000 speaker system.
