More rumors on a possible AMD-ATI deal
Advanced Micro Devices is the second largest maker of personal computer microprocessors in the world after Intel. And we have been hearing about possible rumors that they are interested in acquiring the maker of graphic processors ATI.
We now have more information on such a possible deal. A person involved in the negotiation process is being quoted in the media as saying that the deal might be worth as much as $5.5 billion.
The deal could be finalized in the next couple of days. However, this is purely speculative as of now considering neither AMD nor ATI has commented on this rumor.
ATI competes with NVIDIA in the computer-graphics chips market which itself is dominated by Intel through their integrated video solutions. A deal with AMD would give them a huge boost, as they would get to be promoted with AMD processors in the market, which are now much in demand.
AMD would benefit, as they would be able to offer better integrated solutions in a similar ways as Intel provides to the market.
