Apple doing well with transition to Intel processors
Apple Computers shocked the market when they announced their decision to move to Intel processors from IBM’s PowerPC range of microprocessors.
The transition has worked well for the company as the company is reporting improved sales of their Mac computers.
The company managed to sell 1.3 million desktop and portable systems worldwide in its third fiscal quarter. This is a 12% increase over the same period last year and a 19% jump over this year’s second quarter.
In fact, these figures of growth are more impressive than growth in the PC industry. Gartner and IDC have pegged the growth in the PC industry at 11% and 9.7% over 2005. This should make Steve Jobs a very happy man! What we need now are some new models of the super popular Apple iPod digital media players.
