Fiat to manufacture light commercial vehicle in Russia in collaboration with Severstal Auto
Italian automaker Fiat SpA has said that they would soon start manufacturing its light commercial vehicle Ducato in Russia in collaboration with local company Severstal Auto.
This deal further extends the partnership between the two companies. The production of this new vehicle starts in the fourth quarter of 2007. The two companies would be manufacturing it in the area of Elabuga and expects the annual production to touch an impressive 75,000 units.
The market for such vehicles in the Russian auto industry is pegged at around 200,000 units and market experts believe that this would grow massively in the coming years.
Severstal Auto has already announced their decision to assemble three of Fiat’s car models in the country and would also be importing and distributing all vehicles of the Fiat brand in the domestic market.
