Verizon Wireless removing fees for music download service

Verizon Wireless has confirmed that they are now removing the $15 fee for its music download service. This would be done in conjunction with the launch of LG Chocolate mobile phone featuring an iPod-like click wheel and a memory card capable of storing as many as 1000 songs.

This new mobile handset comes loaded with software, which would enable the users to play their own MP3-format music on the device in addition to songs they purchased from Verizon’s music store.

Verizon would be charging $150 for the phone with a new two-year contract and users can spend another $100 to buy an add-on mini-storage card with 2 GB capacity.

The company is also working on enabling this facility on the existing products in the market, which were manufactured by LG and Samsung. These models currently came with disabled MP3 player capability.
