Ford to invest big in a Russian plant
US based Ford Motor Company is planning to invest around $250 million in the production of new car models in Russia.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry in the Russian government.
This announcement comes after the company signed on an investment agreement Monday on the assembly of Ford Mondeo cars and Maverick cross-country vehicles in Vsevolzhsk in northwestern Russia.
When the plant reaches its optimum capacities, Ford would be manufacturing 30,000 Ford Mondeo and 20,000 Ford Maverick vehicles. The company is also planning to raise the output of Ford Focus cars from the current 60,000 to 100,000.
