Toyota replaces Ford to become the second largest auto retailer in USA
Ford and General Motors are both struggling to compete against Japanese automakers in their home market and we now have some fresh indications of this happening.
Toyota has now overtaken Ford Motors to become, for the first time, the nation’s No. 2 auto retailer.
Toyota already is becoming a dominating player in the US market with their ultra reliable and fuel-efficient cars and with fuel prices rising around the world; more consumers are preferring to purchase these vehicles.
With this, the Asian-based automakers have now managed to grab 41.4% of the U.S. passenger vehicle market in July.
GM continues to dominate the list in the US market but it might not last like this for long. Toyota is closing in on GM and it will not be long before they become the world’s largest automaker. Market analyst Jesse Toprak of online auto information provider Edmunds.com said on this new development: “Look at the trend over the past four years, and if you assume that all else remains the same, we believe Japanese automakers will be outselling domestics in the U.S. by 2014.â€
