Apple and Coke to giveaway 70 million songs
iPod maker Apple Computers are collaborating with Coca Cola and the two companies would be giving away around 70 million songs on its market-leading iTunes Music Store in the European region.
However, the media was not informed about the financial aspects of this deal between the two giants of their industries.
Apple has already sold around 200 million songs in the European market through their iTunes digital music store and they have collaborated with Coke rivals Pepsi in a similar deal giving away 100 million songs in the United States.
The deal would see Coke distributing 70 million song codes inside packs of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke that can be redeemed for tracks at the iTunes store. They would be giving away codes for 67,000 iTunes songs in Germany. In addition, 1,500 iPod portable music players would also be given away through this offer.
Chris Burggraeve, Coca-Cola’s director of marketing for the European Union spoke on this new development: “Mycokemusic.com was the first to the market, but we’ve decided that everybody is great at something. Apple is undeniably the leader in this field.”
