Digital cameras continue to sell well in USA
Shipments of digital cameras in the US market are continuing to grow at an impressive pace. As per incoming reports, U.S. shipments of digital cameras grew 17 percent in the second quarter.
And Canon continues to remain the dominating player in this market. Research firm IDC said in a report that around 6.3 million units were shipped in the quarter. The growth is impressive but it is expected to slow down in the coming months.
More consumers are preferring to buy mobile phones with built in cameras instead of carrying these two devices separately. The Japanese market for digital cameras is almost saturated with little growth.
Canon continues to dominate other players like Sony with 22% market share. Eastman Kodak was third with a 15% market share.
