ABC to broadcast more shows online
ABC has confirmed that they are going to re-launch its streaming video service in the fall. The re-launch would feature a tweaked broadband player and many more shows online. However, these shows would be available online for a smaller duration of time.
The company tested this service with four shows and the renewed launch would feature many more shows. ABC has confirmed that they have cancelled two of the earlier broadcasted four shows. These are “Alias” and “Commander in Chiefâ€.
ABC might continue to broadcast “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” along with some of the new shows on the network.
These shows would continue to be supported by online advertisement but the channel has claimed that it would not hamper the great user experience.
Albert Cheng, executive VP digital media for Disney-ABC Television Group spoke on this new initiative: “Most people watch because they missed the episode, and that happens mostly within a discrete period of time. Once you let it sit there, it doesn’t get that much usage down the line.”
