Logitec showcases the first Blu-Ray drive for Apple Mac platform

Logitec has showcased what they claim is the first Blu-ray disc drive that supports Mac OS X operating system.

Logitec’s LBD-A2FU2/LBD-A2U2 drives have been manufactured by Panasonic and these can playback, read, record and re-write DVDs (8x speed for DVD+R/-R/+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 4x for DVD+R/-R DL, 5x for DVD-RAM).

In addition, these drives can also playback, read and record single-layer 25GB Blu-Ray discs (at up to 2x) and dual-layer 50GB BDs. Of course, these drives are capable of supporting the CD format.

Logitec has loaded these drives with 8MB buffer to allow burning without data interruption.

It’s “Logitech”, not “Logitec”. If you don’t believe me, just open up Logitech’s web site.

logitec and logitech are apparently 2 different companies, judging from the logo and name.

Also, now that apple has a blu-ray drive, the pressure is on for microsoft to make hd-dvd the standard.
