Google to make available MTV digital content supported with advertisement
Search engine giant Google is collaborating with television studio MTV to distribute their shows online supported with advertisement.
Google would as a result provide a new model of revenues to the content generators offering them varied sources of making money.
This deal with MTV would start testing later this month. Google would be providing 100 hours of programming from clips of “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Video content on the internet has become a popular market to be in for these service providers and with YouTube.com becoming the dominating player in this segment, Google could benefit from this renewed approach.
Tom Freston, president and chief executive of Viacom, MTV’s parent spoke on this new deal: “Collaborating with Google gives us a terrific opportunity to take our content and distribute it even more widely on the Web in a seamless and targeted way.â€
Interestingly, MTV is one of the major content providers on Apple iTunes digital store, which is the market leader in selling songs and videos on the net.
