Apple showcases Intel powered Xserve server

Apple Computers has finally completed their transition over to the Intel based microprocessors. The company showcased their new Intel-based Xserve server.

Apple is claiming that these new products are five times faster than the previous generation of Xserves.

These new Xserve feature a smaller processor that requires less cooling time due to better power efficiency. In addition, they feature redundant power supplies and up to two terabytes of storage.

Apple would be pricing these new server products starting at $3,000 and they would be available on sale from October this year.

The company added that the standard configuration of these servers would be 1GB of RAM, an 80GB drive and dual-core 2.66GHz chips.
