Google now has access to University of California libraries for their Google Book Search project
Search engine giant Google has confirmed that they now have the support of the University of California for their gigantic Google Book Search program.
This would give the search engine company access to around 100 academic libraries for their venture, which has got them into massive legal troubles over copyright laws.
This deal is expected to cover all the libraries in UC’s 10-campus system, which makes it the largest expansion for the Google’s Book Search project.
Adam Smith, the group product manager overseeing Google’s book-scanning initiative spoke on this new development: “We think this is a pretty significant step forward.â€
Google now has access to Stanford, Michigan and Harvard university libraries along with University of California now. In addition, they also have partial access to the New York Public Library and Oxford University.
