Alltel to let users listen to XM radio channels on cellphones
Alltel Corp. has announced their decision to enable their subscribers to listen to satellite radio on compatible mobile handsets.
The company said in a statement that they would soon start to offer cellphone customers radio channels from XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.
Alltel is aiming to boost revenues from non-telephony services with these add-on services.
Alltel added that they would be charging interested users $7.99 a month to stream 20 commercial-free XM music channels to their phones.
Users would also be able to view the performer’s name and song title on some compatible handsets.
