Hewlett-Packard now support Debian Linux distribution
Hewlett-Packard has announced that they would soon start supporting the Debian Linux distribution. This would make them the first major hardware maker to do so.
Debian Linux is a noncommercial community-based Linux offering and it would now be offered on Hewlett Packard ProLiant and HP BladeSystem servers. HP also plans to launch the industry’s first Debian Linux customizable thin client from a major vendor. It would be named HP t5725 Thin Client server.
The company said that they decided to officially support this operating system as they already ship Debian Linux servers to customers in the fields of telecommunications and high-performance technical computing.
Jeffrey Wade, open source and Linux marketing manager at HP’s offices in Houston spoke on this new development: “HP takes real phone calls from real customers who need to get their problems solved.”
