Trolltech showcases a fully reprogrammable mobile phone
Norway based tech company Trolltech has displayed their first fully reprogrammable mobile handset. This handset has been designed to help phone designers innovate with mobile phones as programmers have done with personal computers.
This could change the way mobile phones are programmed in the future. Unlike computers, all the programming on mobile phones is mostly done by the companies in the factories.
Benoit Schillings, Trolltech’s chief technology officer spoke on their new product: “(Independent) developers are having a hard time figuring out how to participate in the mobile phone market.â€
The company is also the world’s top supplier of Linux software for mobile phones and they now plan to offer a mobile camera phone running on the international GSM/GPRS standard it calls Greenphone.
