YouTube.com suffers outage lasting for around six hours
Video sharing website YouTube.com has confirmed that they have just managed to suffer their first unplanned downtime.
The video service serves up more than 100 million videos online a day and it was down for around six hours earlier today.
YouTube representative Julie Supan confirmed in an e-mail statement: “We are experiencing a temporary site outage due to a database-related issue. To clarify and ensure accuracy, the site is not down for maintenance. This was an unplanned outage.”
As per information available, the site went down at around 7:30 a.m. PDT (1430 GMT) and was back online at around 1:30 p.m. PDT (2030 GMT).
