CBS to stream shows online for free
CBS Television has confirmed that they plan to show episodes of several new and returning prime-time shows for free on the Internet.
This would make them the second television studios in the United States to do so. The company is in fact already selling episodes of their shows on Apple Computer Inc.’s iTunes Music Store and Google Inc.’s video store.
And CBS had launched an advertising-supported online channel called “innertube” with the aim of streaming shows on the internet.
CBS said that they would be broadcasting shows including Jericho, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, NCIS, Numbers and Survivor on the internet in the coming months.
These shows would be supported with advertisement, which the viewer won’t be able to skip. CBS plans to provide these shows online a day after they are broadcasted on the television. Larry Kramer, president of CBS Digital Media, said in a statement on this decision: “Making our new and returning prime-time series available to our viewers is the next step in innertube’s programming evolution.â€
