EMI Group Plc to provide content for Microsoft Zune player

Microsoft has found yet another innovative concept to make their upcoming digital music and video player Zune attractive to the common man.

The software giant is collaborating with EMI Group PLC and they would be providing preloaded music videos on these players.

These videos would include content from artists like American actor Jared Leto’s alternative rock band 30 Seconds To Mars and English electro-pop band Hot Chip.

Jeff Kempler, executive vice president of EMI unit Virgin Records America spoke on this new development: “Apple has been an important partner in building the digital music market but any well-funded serious entrant has got to be good news for the artists and industry.”

Zune is being seen as Microsoft’s attempt to take on Apple iPod. This is similar to how they took on Sony Playstation 2 with the Xbox and the Xbox 360.

I dont believe the preloaded content will be a significant feature because everybody had thier own taste in music. It wont hurt the zune but it wont help either.
