Japan and USA would soon share same Blu-ray region code
Consumer electronics giant Sony has some good news for their fans in the US and Japanese markets. The company has said that the Blu-ray Disc players and movies expected on sale later this year in Japan and the U.S. would have the same region code.
Currently, these players and the media come with different region code. This denies the consumer the ability to play software bought in one country on players purchased in the other country.
With this new initiative, USA and Japan would have similar region codes and users would be able to play content bought in one country on players bought in the other one.
The system was designed to prevent digital piracy but has failed to do much considering hacks are easily available to the end consumers.
