China closing down websites breaking copyright regulations
The Chinese state media has reported that they are working hard on implementing the new regulation related to copyright laws and have already shut down more than 100 websites.
Most of these sites were related to free downloads of movies and music.
This new regulation was passed in a bid to ban the uploading and downloading of Internet material without permission of the copyright-holder. And as per the newly established law, anyone in the country uploading texts, performances, sound and video recordings to the Internet for downloading or copying would be required to get permission from copyright owners.
Liu Jie, deputy director of the copyright department with China’s National Copyright Administration added on this new development: “Since the regulation took effect on July 1, the administration has enhanced supervision and punishment of online copyright violation.â€
