China fines a company for sending spam mail
Chinese state media has confirmed that the government has fined a Shenzhen company for sending bulk spam mails.
This is perhaps the first case of its kind resulting in fines for a company involved in the illegal activity of sending spam mails.
China is one of the biggest online markets in the world with around 111 million Internet users. And as per estimates, around 60 percent of the email Chinese people receive is spam.
The guilty company was fined 5,000 Yuan ($630) for sending these spam mails. And the government believes that this fine would act as a deterrent for other companies to avoid sending spam mails on the internet.
