China to test out television broadcasting on mobile phones
As per incoming reports, china is set to test out television broadcasts on mobile phones. This service would be targeted at a countrywide launch before the upcoming 2008 Olympics.
As per the information released by China Daily, people living in Beijing, the Chinese capital and host of the Games would be the first one to benefit from the digital multimedia broadcasting technology.
This technology would require a special chip being embedded in the mobile phones capable of showcasing television content. And two of the major mobile service providers in the region China Mobile and China Unicom are expected to sign agreements with phone makers by the end of the month to buy TV-enabled handsets.
Not only mobile phones, but also personal digital assistants and MP4 players would also be able to receive these signals provided they have the necessary hardware.
