IBM expands their Storage Product Line

US based tech giant IBM has expanded their Storage Product Line and are claiming that this expansion is the “single largest expansion of its storage portfolio”.

On the higher-end side, they have launched the IBM System Storage DS8000 Turbo models. It has two separate models DS8100 Turbo and DS8300 Turbo. These two are based on the IBM’s Power 5+ processor and provide a performance improvement of up to 15% for transaction processing workload environments when compared to the previous DS8000 platform.

Other enhancements include usage of 4-Gbytes-per-second Fibre Channel Fiber Connection to reduce the number of network resources needed. IBM claims that this would simplify management and reduce infrastructure costs.
