Tata Motors to outsource components for Rs. 1 lakh car

Indian automaker Tata Motors has said that they would be relying on outsourcing automotive components for its proposed Rs. 1 lakh car from big vendors in order to keep the costs in control.

Tata Motor’s deputy chief of strategic sourcing department B.B. Parekh said in a statement that they are looking at big sized suppliers of auto components for this very purpose.

The company is aiming at accommodating less than 100 vendors in the vendor park in 300 acres of area at the proposed plant in Singur in Hooghly district.

The goal is to reduce the number of vendors to remove the complexity of manufacturing cars and get bigger players in the process who can invest in technology.
