Apple to pay Creative to settle legal disputes over digital music players
iPod maker Apple Computers has said in a statement that they would be paying around USD 100 million to rivals Creative Technology Ltd.
This money would help them settle the legal differences with Creative over the patents related to the digital music players they sell.
Creative added that they would soon start selling accessories for Apple’s iPod music player!
The fee includes the one-time license payment to use Creative’s recently awarded technology patent in all Apple products. Creative would also join the Apple’s Made for iPod program.
Apple added that they might get a part of this payment back if Creative decides to license its patent to other digital media player makers.
The two companies have as many as five lawsuits pending against one another.
