Sony Pictures Entertainment acquire online video site Grouper
Sony’s subsidiary Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced their decision to acquire online video site Grouper.
The deal is worth around USD 65 million. The company has confirmed that they would keep the current management of the Grouper Company.
Grouper is one of the many online companies involved in creating, watching and sharing video on the internet.
This could perhaps become the online destination where Sony might soon start selling their movies and other digital programs on the net.
Michael Lynton, Sony Pictures chairman and chief executive, said in a statement on this decision: “Many people in the Grouper community use Sony cameras to create videos and Sony VAIO computers and mobile devices to store and view them. It makes sense to complete the circle by having Grouper be a part of Sony Pictures Entertainment.”
