MTV to launch broadband portal Flux
MTV Networks is planning to catch onto the internet generation with a new broadband service to be called Flux.
It is planned for a launch in the Japanese market initially and would then be made available in other markets around the world.
This is possibly the clearest step from the company, which is looking at the internet as a threat to its domination on the television scene.
William Roedy, vice chairman of MTV Networks and president of MTV Networks International said in a statement on this new development: “While our history has been focused on TV, there is no doubt that our future will belong to digital. We are no longer a TV-centric company. While we have led in TV over the last 25 years, we are now poised to lead in digital.”
