Sony Ericsson to expand the scope of its PlayNow service
World’s forth-largest mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has said that they are planning to expand on their PlayNow service.
Currently, the company uses this technology to deliver ring tones. Sony Ericsson however did not reveal on what kind of expansion this service would get.
Sony Ericsson representative Aldo Liguri said in a statement: “We are developing the PlayNow service further; it is part of our bigger music strategy.â€
More and more mobile companies are investing into music delivery services with the aim of expanding their reach in the music-enabled mobile phones.
World’s largest mobile maker Nokia recently announced its decision to acquire .S.-based digital music distributor Loudeye Corp. for $60 million.
