TiMO: Toyota collaborates with KDDI to make car friendly mobile phones
World’s second largest automaker Toyota has said that they have developed a mobile phone with KDDI Corp. that will make it easier for drivers in Japan to use its car navigation and other services.
This new phone has been named TiMO and it would be available in the retail markets by October this year.
However, Toyota plans to sell it only through its 7,500 outlets in Japan. Toyota incidentally has an 11 percent stake in KDDI and they would also launch a new service that link cars and telecom networks.
The two companies added that this phone would connect with the Toyota’s car navigation system using Bluetooth.

The TiMo contains features like any other typical cell phone with digital media capability. The new Toyota phone can be also used for downloading music and games. During car troubles on or off the road, TiMo can help customers because of the emergency services using speed dialing. Nice one!
