Panasonic recalling laptop batteries in Japanese market
Dell and Apple Computer are the two major companies, which recently announced a recall of batteries supplied with their notebook products.
Now, Panasonic is doing the same. The recall is valid in the Japanese market only and the company said that the mechanical problems with the pack’s latch could lead to overheating of the battery.
This recall only applies to around 6000 battery packs that were shipped with its CF-W4G Let’s Note W4 laptop computers. These products were shipped during April and May of 2005.
However, this recall is different from the recalls from Apple and Dell, which are related to batteries manufactured by Sony.
The problem occurs if a small spring in the latch penetrates the battery pack. This can cause a short circuit that leads to overheating.
