China set to overtake USA as the world’s biggest broadband market
China is already the world’s most populous country. And they are now closing in on the USA to become the country with most people connected to the internet using broadband connection.
A research firm Ovum has claimed in a report that the country is on track to overtake the United States next year as the world’s largest broadband market.
The market has grown dramatically at a compound annual growth rate of 79 percent over the last three years. And they are expected to have 79 million subscribers by 2007.
This would easily overtake the estimated 51 million broadband subscribers in the United States. However, looking at the population of the country, next year would see just around 3% of the entire China connected to the net with a broadband connection.
The growth rate would mean that the country would have around 139 million subscribers by 2010.
