Sprint Movies: pay-per-view full-length movie service on mobile phones

US based mobile service provider Sprint has launched a new service named Sprint Movies. The service is the first of its kind to offer pay-per-view full-length movies on mobile phones in the country.

They are currently offering movie titles from Buena Vista VOD, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and Universal Pictures.

Mobile users can download a software application that gives them access to around 45 titles, including “National Treasure,” “Spider-Man 2″ and “Scarface.” They are using the technology provided by mSpot, which are overseeing the video production and ongoing operations of the service.

The movie is streamed on the mobile phone instead of downloading completely. This removes the fear of any copyright violation. The titles would cost the customer between $3.99 and $5.99 each.
