Hydrogen 7: BMW to sell the world’s first hydrogen-powered luxury performance car
German luxury automobile maker BMW has said that they are planning to become the first company to sell a hydrogen-powered luxury performance car in the retail market.
This vehicle has been named Hydrogen 7 and they would be building it in a limited edition in Europe. BMW plans to sell these few cars in the US market.
Hydrogen 7 would be based on their 7-Series car and would come with an internal combustion engine capable of running on either hydrogen or gasoline.
BMW added that the car’s engine would be powered by a 260-horsepower, 12-cylinder engine and it would accelerate from zero to 62.1 mph (zero to 99.4 kph) in 9.5 seconds. The company would be limiting the car’s top speed to 143 mph (228.8 kph).
