Apple now selling movies on Apple iTunes
Apple Computer as expected has finally launched their movie download service. The company has added movies to its iTunes store and is also previewing a media-streaming device.
Apple iTunes users can now purchase new movies for $12.99 each and older titles for $9.99 each from the Apple iTunes Store.
They have updated their Apple iTunes application to version 7 which now offer both movies and games for the Apple iPod along with music.
It would take on the recently unveiled Unbox service from the ecommerce giant Amazon.com. As of now, iTunes is offering about 75 Disney-owned titles from Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures, and Miramax Films.
Download movies will play back at a resolution of 640 by 480 pixels. This is better than existing content available on sale on iTunes but still not comparable to DVD quality video.
